About ‘Is there a book’
Is there a book in this blog? is a new group blog, for Three Monkeys Online, dedicated to books and matters literary. The blog is a space for regular Three Monkeys writers and guests to throw their opinions about regarding books they are reading, have read, or would never dream to open (they’re an opinionated lot!).
The idea of the blog is to allow for a space outside the constraints of the interviews/features/reviews format that the rest of the magazine employs.
Because it’s a group blog, there are some guiding principles to keep things flowing smoothly. The most important of these is that each post must concern itself - however fleetingly - with a published title or author, or indeed titles and authors. Digressions are almost obligatory, but a starting point must be clearly indicated. This is a book blog, so if any of our contributors want to discuss the price of oil/ Serbian politics/ Glam rock/ the Enlightenment, they’re free to do so, provided they can work out a reasonable way to introduce the argument through a book. Infringements will be scowled upon.
The blog is, essentially about reading, readings, and misreadings, and professes no particular competence other than enthusiasm. As a result we welcome and prize comments and discussion - please do join in!
But, like any decent book, if you want to know what this blog is about, the best option is to ignore this introduction, jump right in and start reading.
