Lit blogs
- Asylum
Lengthy posts on great books, by blogger John Self. Highly recommended - Booklit

An interesting project, where translator Daniel Hahn blog’s about translating Angolan author José Eduardo Agualusa’s novel Estação das Chuvas - Jabberwock
Not strictly speaking a lit blog, as it posts on film and indian culture as well, but Jai Arjun Singh’s postings and literary reviews are intelligent and well worth recommmending - Lizzy’s Literary Life
Down to earth and engaging, with an impressive rate of posts - The Literary Saloon
Intelligent, opinionated and thorough, the Literary Saloon is of particular interest to those of us looking to learn about non-English or American literature. - This Space
Much more than simply a book review blog, Stephen Mitchelmore’s This Space is opinionated, clever, and useful
Literary Podcasts
- CBC Writers and Company
Great author interviews from CBC journalist Eleanor Wachtel - Guardian books podcast
Includes author readings, interviews, and - a feature we particularly like here at this blog - retrospectives where authors discuss their landmark works (for example, Ian Banks discussing ‘The Wasp Factory’). - KCRW Bookworm
Michael Silverblatt’s excellent show based around author interviews - Librivox
An interesting idea - librivox volunteers record readings of books in the public domain, podcasts of which are then posted freely. Their motto is ‘acoustical liberation of books in the public domain’ - fair play. - Off the Shelf
Excellent in-depth review program from Irish broadcaster RTE - focusses on one/two titles a week, with a slight bias towards the non-fiction - The Bat Segundo Show
Not limited to the literary, the Bat Segundo show has a very impressive archive
