Mark Kozelek (Red House Painters, and subsequently Sun Kill Moon) has put a cover of the Waylon Jennings’ track Amanda online. The cover, a collaboration with Low’s Mimi Parker and Will Oldham, is one of the tracks from his upcoming covers Album Mark Kozelek Sings Favorites, due out on Caldo Verde Records on May 27th.
Amanda was written originally by Bob McDill, the grammy winning songwriter who, in Nashville, over a thirty-year period is reputed to have churned out a song a week for the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis, Anne Murray, Don Williams, Waylon Jennings, and Mickey Gilley.
On Kozelek’s new album there are cover versions of songs by artists including 10CC, Waylon Jennings, Modest Mouse, and Bob Seger, and collaborations with artists including Mike Patton, Mimi Parker, Minnie Driver, Will Oldham and Rachel Goswell.
Following the album’s release, Kozelek will be touring both as a solo artist and with Sun Kill Moon, with dates in the United States and Europe going through the summer.
