Atmospheric video tour of Vietnam’s capital Hanoi – featuring all the sights, including the old quarter, the lakes, and the famous water puppet theatre.
There are plenty of 'official' tourist board videos of places that project an idealised version of the destination; when you've been there and compare it to the video, there's a disconnect. Not the case with this Hanoi video guide, produced by the Vietnamese government. It's got the obligatory soft-focus expected, but the images chosen are recognisable to anyone who's visited this fantastic city - bicycles overladen, chaos mingling with order, nature, history, pollution and food that looks so good you can almost taste it.
It's ten years since I visited Hanoi, but watching the video makes it feel like it was yesterday - looking at people wandering around its old quarter; people stretching and exercising at dusk alongside the Hoan Kiem Lake, and seeing the food vendors selling their wares - magical!
